You’ll learn how to:
Insert a zip with neat fabric tabs
Work with directional fabrics
Choose and use interfacing
Add a lining for a professional finish
Construct a flat-bottomed bag that stands up
The finished bag is a really useful size for weekends away, holidays or simply keeping your everyday essentials together. And with the right fabric, it doesn't have to be a cosmetic bag — use it for sewing supplies, stationery, toiletries or anything else that needs a home.
🎄And if you're thinking ahead to Christmas... it also makes a lovely handmade gift for friends and family. Choose a fabric to suit them and make something that's both useful and personal.
What you need to bring
Nothing! All sewing machines, equipment & fabric are provided, so just turn up ready to sew.*
Suitable for anyone who can use a sewing machine, including beginners who haven't inserted a zip before.
*Please note - the studio is accessed via stairs & the toilets are downstairs. There is ample free off street parking outside the studio.
Refund Policy
Payment in full is required at the time of booking to secure your place. If you find that you can't attend 7 days or more before the start of your class you will receive a full refund, less the administration fees. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations with less than 1 weeks notice.

You must be able to already operate a sewing machine (know how to thread & sew in a straight line)
* If you prefer to provide your own fabric, you are welcome to do so, you will need at least 1/2 metre of 100% cotton fabric & lining (non-stretch & non-slippery.)
You’re also welcome to bring your own sewing machine, if you prefer.
