4 x 3 hour weekly classes

Are you keen to learn how to sew or perhaps you learnt to sew years ago & need a refresher- then this is the course for you! There's never been a better time to learn to sew & I'll show you how sewing can be budget friendly & more sustainable than high street fashion.

On this Absolute Beginners sewing course you'll learn how to sew with a sewing machine & make a bag & a pair of PJ bottoms. By the end of the course you'll have practised various essential sewing techniques, gained confidence to sew independently & sewn up your 1st garment.

Small classes, so that you get the attention that you need as a beginner to gain confidence.

Week 1:

Threading up the machine and bobbin, different stitches, adjusting tension, changing a needle and presser foot, discuss different fabric types, where to source cheaply. Start to sew straight lines & begin to sew your bag.

Week 2:

Sew up your bag & learn French Seams. Take accurate measurements. Lay out your pattern & cut out the fabric for PJs. How to read a pattern. Start to sew PJs,

Week 3.

Consider different finishing techniques & learn how to sew curves.

Week 4:

Finishing off sewing PJs, sewing hems, threading elastic, discuss adaptations or fit alterations that can be made for future makes.

What to bring

Machines & all sewing equipment that you need is provided. (Please contact me if you prefer to bring your own)

Fabric is provided in the form of upcycled duvets for the tote bag or bring your own (please ensure that you have at least 1metre of 100% cotton fabric)

For the PJ bottoms 1.5m - 2m of cotton fabric is needed, you will provide your own fabric & matching thread, details will be given in week 1- I do have a limited amount of fabric that you can buy from me at cost, (I don’t make any profit on it).

Instruction handouts are available in class as a reminder of how to make more of these projects at home.

Refreshments are available.

*Please note - the studio is accessed via stairs & the toilets are downstairs. There is free off street parking outside the studio.

Refund Policy

Payment in full is required at the time of booking to secure your place. If you find that you can't attend 7 days or more before the start of your class you will receive a full refund. Unfortunately, I cannot offer refunds for cancellations with less than 1 weeks notice.
